Bullhead City hospital names new Medical Director, Dr. Jonathan Woolery

Bullhead City is excited to announce that Dr. Jonathan Woolery was recently appointed as the new Medical Director of the hospital. Dr. Woolery is a board-certified physician with more than 25 years of experience in numerous medical roles over his career including regional and national medical directorships. He also has extensive leadership experience overseeing hospitalist, critical care, and emergency physician groups.

“It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Dr. Woolery as our new Medical Director of the Bullhead City hospital,” said Bob Cardenas, Arizona Market Chief Executive Office of Exceptional Community Hospitals. “Dr. Woolery has a long and distinguished track record of outstanding clinical care. He will work closely with our staff, providers, and nursing leadership to ensure we are delivering personalized, high-quality care to the patients we serve.”

Dr. Woolery began his career in healthcare as a paramedic in the United States Navy before receiving his medical degree. Dr. Woolery earned his Master of Science in Medical Science and his Doctor of Medicine from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles, and his Master of Public Health from Loma Linda University School of Public Health in Loma Linda, California. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Physicians Medical Center – Carraway in Birmingham, Alabama.

Throughout his career, Dr. Woolery has also served in various other medical roles. He has served as a firefighter, paramedic, paramedic educator, emergency medical services (EMS) program director, critical care hospitalist, intensivist, and emergency room physician at hospitals across the United States. Dr. Woolery is also a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Society of Hospital Medicine, American Medical Association, the American Association for Primary Care Endoscopy (AAPCE), and the American College of Physicians (ACP).

Dr. Woolery began his role as Medical Director for Exceptional Community Hospital – Bullhead City in December 2023, and said this about his new position, “I am proud to be part of and contributing to this outstanding leadership and clinical team and look forward to elevating the level and availability of care in the western Arizona desert once again.”
