Biography

Vern McKinney is the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at Exceptional Community Hospital – Prescott. He brings nearly two decades of extensive experience in emergency nursing and leadership to his current role. He most recently served as the ED Nursing Supervisor at HonorHealth, where he provided team leadership and clinical supervision. Prior to that, Vern worked for nearly a decade at Yavapai Regional Medical Center, starting as an ED Nurse/Charge Nurse and eventually advancing to ED Nurse Manager.

Earlier in his career, Vern served as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital Lebanon, working in the critical access emergency department in central Missouri, where he gained experience as both an ED RN and Charge RN. Throughout his career, Vern has consistently demonstrated commitment to patient care, team leadership, and operational efficiency in fast-paced emergency settings.

Vern is Proud to call the Prescott area his home since 2013 and has many ties to the community. He believes in the mission of providing Exceptional healthcare for all and is grateful to be able to help meet the needs of this community.
Vern earned his degree at Missouri State University and holds an active CEN from the Board of Certification for emergency nursing.
