Biography
Dr. Paul Gilbert serves as the Medical Director of Exceptional Community Hospital – Prescott, bringing over 20 years of experience in acute care medicine and healthcare leadership. Known for his dedication to patient-centered care and medical innovation, Dr. Gilbert has earned widespread recognition, including the National Patient Safety Award, the Arizona Innovation Challenge, and the Venture Ready Award from the Arizona Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Gilbert is board certified in Emergency Medicine, with continued training in Anti-aging and Preventative Care. He completed his emergency medicine training at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His career includes leadership roles across Arizona’s major hospital systems, giving him a broad perspective on delivering high-quality, community-based care. His previous roles include Medical Director at Banner Payson Medical Center, EMS Coordinator for Northern Gila County, Air Ambulance Medical Director for Native Air, and Regional Medical Director for Dignity, Arizona General Hospital, where he oversaw eight East Valley emergency departments.
Dr. Gilbert also served as a Medical Director for Hospice Compassus and Hospice of the West and led as Laboratory Director at a Dignity Health satellite ER. In 2015, his company, RightBio Metrics, won the Arizona Innovation Award before being sold in 2019 after a successful neonatal study at Banner University Phoenix. In addition to his hospital leadership, Dr. Gilbert runs a preventative health practice, HealthyNowMD, focused on keeping patients out of the ER through wellness and preventative care.
